Christian Rock Band: The Album Cover*

You can tell from the salacious, revealing costumes.

Because in Nebraska, this is the most you can get away with.

is this one of those nice personal photos that, after they get it home and develop it, they see a dark, demonic figure in the background..?

Is this what passes for a playground in Nebraska?

I like the wellies. But I find that they are far more functional on men. I don't think I have to explain any more other than to mention sheep.

Dude! The smokin' babe is the drummer for the band, right? Sweet!

How's the U.S.A. treating you?

Hee hee. I don't know why that made me laugh aloud.

You know, Johan, she's ready to stomp right through the mud wallow of your heart with those galoshes ...ooo la la

You do know that Omaha, Nebraska is currently one of the most vibrant music scenes in the United States?

Like Minneapolis in the 80s (Husker Du and The Replacements and such), or Seattle in the 90s

Look at bands on the Saddle Creek record label.

Cursive, Bright Eyes, etc.

Not to mention that most of the current interesting national rock bands come through there now all the time to local clubs.

So, Peter, if you are going to be in Nebraska anyway, you should probably go and check out some shows at The Waiting Room or The Sokol Music Hall.

I don't live in Omaha, actually not even in the US, but Omaha is well known in the current music world.

Go and explore.

That's hardly a ringing endorsement :P

Sorry, but I absolutely fucking hate Bright Eyes, and the idea of them being in the same paragraph* as Husker Du crashed my scatole sensor array.
De gustibus YMMV of course, but the first time I saw him was on Austin City Limits and I honestly thought (seriously!) he was like a Neil Hamburger type of comedian, and it was a big ironic put-on or just making fun of music like that.

But he was deadly serious...and I went from laughing my head off to wanting to put a shotgun in it when I saw the number of people in the crowd staring at him dreamily.

*and that paragraph isn't something on the lines of "Husker Du, being unlike Bright Eyes in every possible way save basic morphology..."

Look, I am not such a huge fan of Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), but I can appreciate that he is an interesting and innovative song writer, and I wouldn't mind seeing him play in a local club.

Cursive, on the other hand, I think are quite good.

But, as I said, there is a vibrant music scene going on there and if I was in the area (I am on the other side of the world, however), I would probably go to a few shows at local clubs.

You are 100% correct in that I would much rather have a time machine and check out Minneapolis in the 1980's and gotten drunk and jammed with Paul Westerberg and Bob Mould, and overall, the influence of the Replacements and Husker Du on rock history are exceedingly greater than anything yah got in Omaha.

More like the central midground.

Well, my heart is dark and demonic anyway, even if I tend to look kind of wookieesque on the outside…

They're there, all right. You just didn't look closely enough. "Kintair" found them. Of course, hiding behind your anonymity, for all I know you are "Kintair"…

I happen to really like that shirt, bozo. Even if the top third of the top petal peeled off during its first trip to the laundry. It proves that I am still current, and with my finger firmly on the pulse of somethingorother of America.

Guess which finger.

(There follows an extended exchange between Rakiah and tredecimal on the musical virtues of various parts of the American Heartland, with bec-87rb mocking and holding coats from the sidelines (see, I also have my finger firmly on the pulse of first-century Judea), which I am well-advised to steer clear of, especially during an election year. Except to say that pretty much any kind of music works when played in the right bar — tight band, warm house, cheap beer, and urinal cakes shaped like Dick Cheney's head — even if I wouldn't be caught dead downloading the same kind of music at home.)
