I Still Want My Fucking Jet Pack...

But this will do in the meantime. Emotiv's brainwave-reading products made a brief appearance in last year's flash piece "Repeating the Past", which is set less than ten years from now, so it's nice to see they're still on track.

I bet Stephen Hawking already has one.

I believe they are still planning on shipping consumer models before this year's holiday season. :-)

Actually, it claims they are.

So, so very tempted. Not least for the FPS amusement. "I can kill you with my brain."

I read an article recently about experiments performed on chimps (yes, we still experiment on chimps). In this experiment, they bound the cute little feller's arms and wired artifical limbs to his brain. The little ape was then presented with treats (marshmallows, I think) and he was able to use the artifical limbs to place them in his mouth.

I just want to know who paid for the dental bills.

Cool.

Yeah, anonymous, I saw that article on the monkeys, too, in Science. There was even a photo. I thought somehow inserted electrodes were involved?

Oh, never fear,
they're already on it
. We've even mentioned such developments here on the 'crawl, on occasion.

Forget FPS.
I want one that can simulate a mouse and keyboard. Failing that, I want to be able to use one like the characters did in Brin's Earth and back it up with a well trained copy of Dragonspeak.

Many people have several devices that are operated using remote controllers. It is an absolute joy for people who own universal remotes to be able to operate most of their electronic gadgets with a single remote. In the world of universal remote controllers, few names are memorable and two of these names include Sony 13 by 19 printer and Logitech. In this article we shall cover some of the key points that make the remotes stand out from the rest.
